2016-07-03std: Stabilize APIs for the 1.11.0 releaseAlex Crichton-1/+0
Although the set of APIs being stabilized this release is relatively small, the trains keep going! Listed below are the APIs in the standard library which have either transitioned from unstable to stable or those from unstable to deprecated. Stable * `BTreeMap::{append, split_off}` * `BTreeSet::{append, split_off}` * `Cell::get_mut` * `RefCell::get_mut` * `BinaryHeap::append` * `{f32, f64}::{to_degrees, to_radians}` - libcore stabilizations mirroring past libstd stabilizations * `Iterator::sum` * `Iterator::product` Deprecated * `{f32, f64}::next_after` * `{f32, f64}::integer_decode` * `{f32, f64}::ldexp` * `{f32, f64}::frexp` * `num::One` * `num::Zero` Added APIs (all unstable) * `iter::Sum` * `iter::Product` * `iter::Step` - a few methods were added to accomodate deprecation of One/Zero Removed APIs * `From<Range<T>> for RangeInclusive<T>` - everything about `RangeInclusive` is unstable Closes #27739 Closes #27752 Closes #32526 Closes #33444 Closes #34152 cc #34529 (new tracking issue)

2016-03-12std: Clean out deprecated APIsAlex Crichton-3/+0
Removes all unstable and deprecated APIs prior to the 1.8 release. All APIs that are deprecated in the 1.8 release are sticking around for the rest of this cycle. Some notable changes are: * The `dynamic_lib` module was moved into `rustc_back` as the compiler still relies on a few bits and pieces. * The `DebugTuple` formatter now special-cases an empty struct name with only one field to append a trailing comma.
2016-03-08doc: Fix a bunch of broken linksAlex Crichton-0/+8
A few categories: * Links into compiler docs were just all removed as we're not generating compiler docs. * Move up one more level to forcibly go to std docs to fix inlined documentation across the facade crates.
2016-03-06Auto merge of #30884 - durka:inclusive-ranges, r=aturonbors-1/+1
This PR implements [RFC 1192](https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/blob/master/text/1192-inclusive-ranges.md), which is triple-dot syntax for inclusive range expressions. The new stuff is behind two feature gates (one for the syntax and one for the std::ops types). This replaces the deprecated functionality in std::iter. Along the way I simplified the desugaring for all ranges. This is my first contribution to rust which changes more than one character outside of a test or comment, so please review carefully! Some of the individual commit messages have more of my notes. Also thanks for putting up with my dumb questions in #rust-internals. - For implementing `std::ops::RangeInclusive`, I took @Stebalien's suggestion from https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/pull/1192#issuecomment-137864421. It seemed to me to make the implementation easier and increase type safety. If that stands, the RFC should be amended to avoid confusion. - I also kind of like @glaebhoerl's [idea](https://github.com/rust-lang/rfcs/pull/1254#issuecomment-147815299), which is unified inclusive/exclusive range syntax something like `x>..=y`. We can experiment with this while everything is behind a feature gate. - There are a couple of FIXMEs left (see the last commit). I didn't know what to do about `RangeArgument` and I haven't added `Index` impls yet. Those should be discussed/finished before merging. cc @Gankro since you [complained](https://www.reddit.com/r/rust/comments/3xkfro/what_happened_to_inclusive_ranges/cy5j0yq) cc #27777 #30877 rust-lang/rust#1192 rust-lang/rfcs#1254 relevant to #28237 (tracking issue)

2016-02-08Remove old #[allow(trivial_casts)] annotationsAlex Crichton-1/+0

The deny(warnings) attribute is now enabled for tests so we need to weed out these warnings as well.
2016-01-24mk: Move from `-D warnings` to `#![deny(warnings)]`Alex Crichton-0/+1
This commit removes the `-D warnings` flag being passed through the makefiles to all crates to instead be a crate attribute. We want these attributes always applied for all our standard builds, and this is more amenable to Cargo-based builds as well. Note that all `deny(warnings)` attributes are gated with a `cfg(stage0)` attribute currently to match the same semantics we have today

2015-12-05std: Stabilize APIs for the 1.6 releaseAlex Crichton-3/+2
This commit is the standard API stabilization commit for the 1.6 release cycle. The list of issues and APIs below have all been through their cycle-long FCP and the libs team decisions are listed below Stabilized APIs * `Read::read_exact` * `ErrorKind::UnexpectedEof` (renamed from `UnexpectedEOF`) * libcore -- this was a bit of a nuanced stabilization, the crate itself is now marked as `#[stable]` and the methods appearing via traits for primitives like `char` and `str` are now also marked as stable. Note that the extension traits themeselves are marked as unstable as they're imported via the prelude. The `try!` macro was also moved from the standard library into libcore to have the same interface. 2015-10-06Add RFC 1238's `unsafe_destructor_blind_to_params` (UGEH) where needed.Felix S. Klock II-0/+6
I needed it in `RawVec`, `Vec`, and `TypedArena` for `rustc` to bootstrap; but of course that alone was not sufficient for `make check`. Later I added `unsafe_destructor_blind_to_params` to collections, in particular `LinkedList` and `RawTable` (the backing representation for `HashMap` and `HashSet`), to get the regression tests exercising cyclic structure from PR #27185 building. ---- Note that the feature is `dropck_parametricity` (which is not the same as the attribute's name). We will almost certainly vary our strategy here in the future, so it makes some sense to have a not-as-ugly name for the feature gate. (The attribute name was deliberately selected to be ugly looking.)

2015-08-23Refactor low-level UTF-16 decoding.Simon Sapin-0/+1
* Rename `utf16_items` to `decode_utf16`. "Items" is meaningless. * Move it to `rustc_unicode::char`, exposed in `std::char`. * Generalize it to any `u16` iterable, not just `&[u16]`. * Make it yield `Result` instead of a custom `Utf16Item` enum that was isomorphic to `Result`. This enable using the `FromIterator for Result` impl. * Add a `REPLACEMENT_CHARACTER` constant. * Document how `result.unwrap_or(REPLACEMENT_CHARACTER)` replaces `Utf16Item::to_char_lossy`.

2015-08-12Remove all unstable deprecated functionalityAlex Crichton-25/+0
This commit removes all unstable and deprecated functions in the standard library. A release was recently cut (1.3) which makes this a good time for some spring cleaning of the deprecated functions.
