This commit adds support in rustbuild for running all of the compiletest test
suites as part of `make check`. The `compiletest` program was moved to
`src/tools` (like `rustbook` and others) and is now just compiled like any other
old tool. Each test suite has a pretty standard set of dependencies and just
tweaks various parameters to the final compiletest executable.
Note that full support is lacking in terms of:
* Once a test suite has passed, that's not remembered. When a test suite is
requested to be run, it's always run.
* The arguments to compiletest probably don't work for every possible
combination of platforms and testing environments just yet. There will likely
need to be future updates to tweak various pieces here and there.
* Cross compiled test suites probably don't work just yet, support for that will
come in a follow-up patch.

Until now, a program created with `rustc --test` prints at least one line per test. This can be very verbose, especially with [data-driven tests](https://internals.rust-lang.org/t/test-and-external-test-harnesses/3145) when hundreds or thousands of tests is not rare.
This changes the default output to one character per test (except metrics and benchmarks results which have additional data to show):

The current codegen tests only compare IR line counts between similar
rust and C programs, the latter getting compiled with clang. That looked
like a good idea back then, but actually things like lifetime intrinsics
mean that less IR isn't always better, so the metric isn't really
helpful.
Instead, we can start doing tests that check specific aspects of the
generated IR, like attributes or metadata. To do that, we can use LLVM's
FileCheck tool which has a number of useful features for such tests.
To start off, I created some tests for a few things that were recently
added and/or broken.

An automated script was run against the `.rs` and `.md` files,
subsituting every occurrence of `task` with `thread`. In the `.rs`
files, only the texts in the comment blocks were affected.
|

In particular, the two benchmark are being run as tests in the default
mode.
This helps for the main distribution, since benchmarks are only run with
`PLEASE_BENCH=1`, which is rarely set (and never set on the test bots),
and helps for code-coverage tools: benchmarks are run and so don't count
as dead code.

Add a new test directory called 'rustdoc' where all files inside are documented
and run against the `htmldocck` script to have assertions about the output.

for `Box<FnBox()>`. I found the alias was still handy because it is
shorter than the fully written type.
This is a [breaking-change]: convert code using `Invoke` to use `FnBox`,
which is usually pretty straight-forward. Code using thunk mostly works
if you change `Thunk::new => Box::new` and `foo.invoke(arg)` to
`foo(arg)`.

* Introduces `std::convert`, providing an implementation of
RFC 529.
* Deprecates the `AsPath`, `AsOsStr`, and `IntoBytes` traits, all
in favor of the corresponding generic conversion traits.
Consequently, various IO APIs now take `AsRef<Path>` rather than
`AsPath`, and so on. Since the types provided by `std` implement both
traits, this should cause relatively little breakage.
* Deprecates many `from_foo` constructors in favor of `from`.
* Changes `PathBuf::new` to take no argument (creating an empty buffer,
as per convention). The previous behavior is now available as
`PathBuf::from`.
* De-stabilizes `IntoCow`. It's not clear whether we need this separate trait.

This commit stabilizes essentially all of the new `std::path` API. The
API itself is changed in a couple of ways (which brings it in closer
alignment with the RFC):
* `.` components are now normalized away, unless they appear at the
start of a path. This in turn effects the semantics of e.g. asking for
the file name of `foo/` or `foo/.`, both of which yield `Some("foo")`
now. This semantics is what the original RFC specified, and is also
desirable given early experience rolling out the new API.
* The `parent` function now succeeds if, and only if, the path has at
least one non-root/prefix component. This change affects `pop` as
well.
* The `Prefix` component now involves a separate `PrefixComponent`
struct, to better allow for keeping both parsed and unparsed prefix data.
In addition, the `old_path` module is now deprecated.

Some minor cleanup is performed such as migrating documentation from libcore to
libunicode (where the `std`-facing trait resides) as well as a slight
reorganiation in libunicode itself. Otherwise, the stability modifications made
are:
* `char::from_digit` is now stable
* `CharExt::is_digit` is now stable
* `CharExt::to_digit` is now stable
* `CharExt::to_{lower,upper}case` are now stable after being modified to return
an iterator over characters. While the implementation today has not changed
this should allow us to implement the full set of case conversions in unicode
where some characters can map to multiple when doing an upper or lower case
mapping.
* `StrExt::to_{lower,upper}case` was added as unstable for a convenience of not
having to worry about characters expanding to more characters when you just
want the whole string to get into upper or lower case.
This is a breaking change due to the change in the signatures of the
`CharExt::to_{upper,lower}case` methods. Code can be updated to use functions
like `flat_map` or `collect` to handle the difference.
